The inaugural “I Can!” 5K color run/walk, a fundraiser for Genesis Development, is slated for Saturday, Sept. 23. The deadline for early registration, for participants who want to receive T-shirt and pay a reduced registration fee, is Thursday, Sept. 7.
The run/walk is for skill levels ranging from easy strollers to all-out runners. It will start and finish at the Webb House at 401 S. Wilson in Jefferson. Registration and bag pick-up will start at 8 am, with the run/walk starting at 9. Music, refreshments and games will be available at the Webb House after the event.
To support the event, Home State Bank is paying a portion of the registration fee for all Greene County students, grades K-12, who register before Sept. 7. The fee for students will be $15 until Sept. 7; the fee for adults is $35.
The registration fee for all participants is $40 after Sept. 7. The cost for a T-shirt and bag only (for those not running or walking) is $10.

Additionally, the winning ticket of a 50/50 raffle will be drawn after the run/walk. Tickets are available now at $1 each or 15 for $10 at the Genesis Development office at 401 W. McKinley St in Jefferson, or from any Genesis employee. Tickets will be available until the event. The winner is already guaranteed $400, with the pot still growing.
All proceeds will benefit Genesis Development.
